Development of Crop 2025
We already determined that yield losses due to frost in February, March, and most recently April was totally 150,000 tons. Unusual climate conditions led to a poor fertilization period. During this period, damage from diseases and pests (fungus, powdery mildew, green and brown stink bug) was more severe than in previous years. The damage from last year’s drought affecting the Western Black Sea region was once again most severe in the Western Black Sea region. This situation also negatively impacted the Central and Eastern Black Sea regions. Consequently, new crop will be similar to the Ministry’s yield appears more likely. You can see detailed crop estimations of BlackSea Exporters’ Union and Ministry as follow. You can see also pictures from the orchards that we took while our fieldworks.
Math doesn’t lie.
For years, the yield estimates made by the Ministry and other institutions and organizations have been debated, but the actual results have never been compared. Let’s compare the yields from the last three seasons and compare them with the actual figures. The results will reveal whose yield is closer to the correct one. As I stated at the beginning, math doesn’t lie. The result is clear: According to the Ministry’s yield, they transferred 108,969 tons of hazelnuts, while according to the KİB (Regulation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), they should have transferred 316,161 tons.
